BOSTON, Mass. – The Emerson College men's soccer team scored a goal in each half to defeat Wentworth Institute of Technology, 2-0, in non-conference action Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth applied pressure from the start, with a shot by senior Caleb Robbins (Mystic, Conn.) going on net just 44 seconds into the contest. The Leopards had a pair of corner kicks in a span of 36 seconds had had two shot attempts blocked.
  • Senior Jacob Dukeshire (Nashua, N.H.) put a shot on net in the 32nd minute, which was countered by Emerson's first shot attempt of the game in the 33rd minute. The Lions' bid was saved by senior Liam Nasr (Chester, N.H.). The hosts had their best chance to score in the 39th minute when a shot hit off the post. Four minutes and 11 seconds later, senior Thomas Chuaqui (El Cerrito, Calif.) put his team on the board when he scored off his own rebound of a shot that was saved by Nasr.
  • After the Lions hit the post in the 46th minute, the Black & Gold had four shot attempts and a corner kick, with sophomore Kyle Hallahan (Westwood, Mass.) putting a shot on net in the 48th minute.
  • In the 78th minute, Wentworth nearly tied the game when freshman Dylan Michaud's (Hopkinton, Mass.) shot was headed towards an open net, however, and Emerson defender came up to clear the ball out.
  • With 3:24 remaining, a scrum in front of the goal yielded the Lions' second marker of the game, coming off the foot of freshman Luke Maxwell (San Carlos, Calif.).
  • Wentworth had a 21-12 shot advantage with junior Christopher Jimenez (Doral, Fla.) and senior Nile Keiler (Bowie, Md.) each taking four shots. The Leopards also had a 10-3 edge on corner kicks. Nasr made three saves.
