BOSTON, Mass. – Three different student-athletes tallied goals and sophomore Ryan Lunn (Southington, Conn.) made three saves as the University of Hartford men's soccer team (3-6-2) defeated Wentworth Institute of technology (3-11-1), 3-0, Wednesday afternoon on Sweeney Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Hartford had an early chance off a corner kick, however, the shot attempt by senior Nate Becher (Sorrento, Fla.) sailed over the crossbar.
  • At the 24:30 mark, sophomore Nicholas Castrovinci (Ledgewood, N.J.) put the Hawks ahead when he scored off a shot to the lower middle after receiving a pass from Becher.
  • Wentworth had a chance to tie in the 28th minute as freshman Shane Byrne (West Haven, Conn.) put a shot on net that Lunn stopped.
  • In the 58th minute, senior Nile Keiller (Bowie, Md.) served a corner kick to sophomore Ryan Hallahan (Westwood, Mass.) whose shot was denied by Lunn.
  • At 60:43, sophomore Alex Foligno (Middletown, Conn.) sent a long pass to freshman Sami Dridi (West Hartford, Conn.), who beat senior Louis Quintero (Boston, Mass.) to the top left to make it 2-0. The Hawks rounded out the scoring with 10:18 left as Becher went in alone and put home a shot to the top left corner from the right side.
  • Quintero made three saves for the Leopards. Hartford had a 12-11 shot advantage while Wentworth had the 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
