BRISTOL, R.I. – Four different student-athletes tallied goals as the Roger Williams University men's soccer team used a 3-0 first half to take a 4-0 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in Commonwealth Coast play Saturday afternoon.

With he win the Hawks improve to 6-4-7 overall and 4-1-2 in CCC play, while the Leopards fall to 3-12-1 (1-6-0).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Roger Williams had an early advantage with three shot attempts in a span of 6:52, however, none of those were on target. A pair of Wentworth shots in an eight-and-a-half-minute span yielded the Leopards no shots on net.
  • The Hawks got the only goal they would need on a goal from senior CJ Sousa (Fall River, Mass.) at the 24:59 mark.
  • The teams traded shot attempts and sophomore Giovanni Ruggieri (Canton, Mass.) made a save in the 32nd minute to keep the score at 1-0. At 32:28, however, the hosts extended their lead to 2-0 on a goal from junior Jack Wildermann (Madison, Conn.)
  • Ruggieri made a pair of saves, spaced four minutes apart, however, at the 42:17 mark, junior Jason Salley (Durham, Conn.) made it a 3-0 game.
  • In the first eight minutes of the second half, the Black & Gold attempted three shot attempts, including one off a free kick from sophomore Sam Wong (Quincy, Mass.) that went just left of the mark.
  • Sophomore Liam Blaisdell (Plymouth, Mass.) gave the Hawks a 4-0 lead with 18:46 left
  • Senior Nile Keiller (Bowie, Md.) put a shot on net in the 74th minute, followed by one from Sammy Hadouche (Nashua, N.H.) two minutes later.
  • Ruggieri made six saves for Wentworth. Roger Williams had a 17-13 shot advantage and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
