Breglio Named Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach

BOSTON, Mass. – Wentworth Institute of Technology's Head Men's Lacrosse Coach, Dan Russo, has announced the hiring of David Breglio to his staff as an assistant coach, effective immediately. Breglio will join fellow assistant coach Mike Eagan, working closely with the Leopard defensive unit.

"I'd like to welcome Coach Breglio to the program and to the Wentworth community", said Russo. "He brings great knowledge, energy, and demonstrated recruiting ability that will have an immediate impact on our players and program. Our young players will have a great individual to learn from and Breglio will be a great representative of Wentworth."

Breglio spent the 2011 as an assistant coach at neighboring Emmanuel College, where he worked with the defense and assisted in the recruitment of student-athletes. The Saints were in their final season as a club program and his recruiting efforts helped to pay off during Emmanuel's first season as a varsity program as the Saints would finish a respectable 7-9 in 2012. Prior to joining the Emmanuel staff he spent the 2008 campaign as the defensive coordinator and recruiting assistant at his alma mater, Clark University.

A four-year starter for the Cougars, Breglio appeared in 55 games as a defender and is presently fifth on the program's all-rime list with 188 ground balls. During his junior season (2006) he scooped up a career-high 64 ground balls to help Clark to a program-record seven wins. A 2007 graduate with a Bachelor's degree in psychology, Breglio served as the only three-year captain in Clark men's lacrosse history. He and his classmates also amassed a program-best 21 wins from 2003-07.

"I am excited for the opportunity to join Coach Russo and the rest of the coaching staff of the Wentworth men's lacrosse program," said Breglio. "Competing in the Commonwealth Coast Conference provides a great challenge, and I look forward to continuing and expanding on the hard work and success that already exists with Wentworth's student-athletes and coaches."

A native of West Springfield, Mass., Breglio received his Master's degree in school counseling from Suffolk University in 2011 and is presently employed as a training supervisor at the Clinical Center for Investigation at nearby Brigham and Women's Hospital.
