Men's Soccer Earns Number Four Seed in CCC Tournament

BOSTON, Mass. – For the third straight season the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team will host a quarterfinal round game in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament. The fourth-seeded Leopards (9-7-2) will square off against fifth-seeded Salve Regina (11-4-3) on Saturday, October 28, at Noon on Sweeney Field.

Wentworth earns the number four seed after posting a 5-2-2 record in league play (17 points). The Leopards clinched one of the top four seeds with a 3-1 win over Curry on Tuesday night. Salve Regina tied with Roger Williams for fifth place as each had identical 5-3-1 records in league play. The Seahawks earned the number four seed by virtue of winning the head-to-head battle in the regular season.

For the second straight season Endicott earns the top seed. The Gulls finished the regular season with a 10-4-3 overall record (6-1-2 CCC) and will square off against eighth-seeded University of New England 7-8-2 (3-6-0 CCC). Gordon picked up the number two seed with an 11-5-1 overall record and a 6-2-1 record. The Fighting Scots, who earned the number two seed by defeating defending CCC champion Western New England on Tuesday, host seventh-seeded Nichols. Third-seeded Western New England (11-6-1) will host sixth-seeded Roger Williams (9-6-4, 5-3-1).

All four quarterfinal round games will be played on Saturday. The four winners advance to Tuesday's (October 31) semifinal round, with the two semifinal victors vying for the CCC title and an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday, November 4.

Saturday's meeting will mark the 40th all-time between the programs with Salve Regina holding a 21-15-3 series advantage. However, Wentworth is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings, including when the two teams played to a 1-1 tie on October 1. This will be the fourth time in the series the squads will meet in the CCC quarterfinals. Wentworth holds a 2-1 edge in quarterfinal matchups, including a 5-1 win two seasons ago on Sweeney Field.
