Basaca Named United Soccer Coaches All-New England

BOSTON, Mass. – The United Soccer Coaches (formerly National Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association of America) released its 2017 Division III Men's Soccer All-Region Teams on Tuesday evening and Wentworth Institute of Technology senior Emmett Basaca (San Diego, Calif.) was named to the second team for a second consecutive season, joining an elite group of 44 players across the three teams.

Basaca, who was also an All-New England selection (third team) as a sophomore, collects his second post-season accolade this season with this regional recognition after being named First Team All-Commonwealth Coast Conference for the third straight year. The senior standout led the conference with 14 assists, a single-season statistic that ranks first in Wentworth men's soccer history. Basaca also added three goals in all 20 games played for a career-best 20 points on the year.

A pivotal piece of the Leopards' midfield unit, Basaca played in nearly every minute of every game during his career, and ranks first all-time in games started (79) and second in total games played (79). His 21 career assists rank fourth all-time, to go along with six goals and 33 total points.

With a 9-7-2 overall record to close out the regular season, Wentworth earned the No. 4 spot in the CCC Tournament, and advanced to at least the semifinal round for the third straight season.
