KENTS HILL, Maine – Junior Jenna Tetreau (Dudley, Mass.) scored four goals while two other Leopards posted hat-tricks to propel the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team over U. Maine-Farmington on Sunday afternoon.
The Leopards hop back in the win column and even out at 5-5 overall, while the Beavers drop to 3-7.
Tetreau started the Wentworth offense in the 23rd minute, bookended by two goals from Farmington sophomore Keilly Lynch (Lyman, Maine) for the 2-1 score in favor of the hosts. Wentworth pulled away with four straight goals from freshman Emily Rogers (2) (Pembroke, Mass), junior Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) and Tetreau, and held a 5-3 lead going into halftime.
Despite the Beavers holding a 17-14 advantage in shots the second half, both teams scored six goals apiece, leading Wentworth to the 11-9 win. Tetreau and Paradis both netted two goals apiece in the stretch, including a man-up goal from Paradis with 9:47 left to go.
Tetreau, Paradis, and Rogers combined for 10 goals in the victory, while sophomore Kaitlyn Darveau (South China, Maine) rounded out the scoring for the Leopards. Rogers and Paradis each caused three turnovers to lead the Wentworth defense.
Junior Liz Gunning made a career-high 18 saves in the win, stopping nine shots apiece in each half. Junior keeper Heather Boland (Griswold, Conn.) suffered the loss for the Beavers, allowing 11 goals with nine saves.
Wentworth hops back into conference action on Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. home game against Salve.
