Endicott Outmatches Women's Lacrosse

BEVERLY, Mass. – Four different Gulls finished with multi-goal performances as the Endicott women's lacrosse team downed Wentworth Institute of Technology 19-5 at Hempstead Stadium Wednesday evening.

The reigning Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) champions improve to 11-3 overall and an unblemished 7-0 in league play, while Wentworth dips to 5-8 this season and 1-5 against conference opponents.

Endicott held Wentworth scoreless for the entirety of the first half, as junior Jackie Healy (Northborough, Mass.) sent home three goals to lead the Gulls to a 9-0 advantage. Wentworth junior Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) scored back-to-back unassisted goals to open the second frame, but the Gulls went on a 6-0 run to hold a 15-3 advantage with 17:50 left in regulation. Junior Leah Cummins (Plymouth, Mass.) broke the Leopard lull with a free position goal in the 45th minute, before Paradis followed with a free position shot of her own with 6:02 left to play. Endicott snuck in two goals under the final five minutes, as Cummins gave Wentworth its last point with 15 seconds left on another free position goal.

Paradis finished with three goals, four ground balls, and four draw controls, while Cummins finished with two goals and three ground balls.

Freshman Lily Kuhns (Gloucester, Mass.) suffered the loss in net for the Leopards despite 14 saves in just over 44 minutes played. Junior Liz Gunning (Northport, N.Y.) came in for 15:19 of relief, and made one stop in the effort.

Wentworth is back in action on Sweeney Field on Saturday vs Curry College. The Leopards will honor their two seniors, Hayley Sabino (Topsfield, Mass.) and Courtney McCormick (Hanson, Mass.), before draw control at 12:00 p.m.
