Paradis Leads Women's Lacrosse To First-Ever Victory Over Curry On Senior Day

BOSTON, Mass. –  Junior Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) scored eight goals with two assists for ten total points to lead the Wentworth women's lacrosse team to its second-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory Saturday afternoon at Sweeney Field. The Leopards held off a late-game comeback and downed the Colonels of Curry College, 18-15, and improve to 6-8 overall and 2-5 against league opponents, while Curry drops to 4-10 this season and 1-6 in the CCC.

Wentworth dominated the first half, as back-to-back goals from Paradis and junior Leah Cummins (Plymouth, Mass.) put the Leopards up by four, 6-2, with 17:38 remaining in the half.  Curry sophomore Leona Stevens (Kingston, Mass.) broke the Leopard surge before junior Jenna Tetreau (Dudley, Mass.), freshman Emily Rogers (Pembroke, Mass.), and Paradis sent three home for the 9-3 lead. Stevens got three back for Curry, adding to her four first-half goals, but Paradis converted on a free position shot to keep the lengthy lead, 11-6, as both teams headed into halftime.

Curry staged a second-half comeback, and scored four straight goals from sophomore Courtney Lima (New Bedford, Mass.), sophomore Abigail Roy (Nashua, N.H.), junior Jessica Giamettei (Branford, Conn.) and sophomore Abby Dubel (Wolfeboro, N.H.). With 10:33 left in regulation, Curry cut the deficit to just two goals, as Lima, sophomore Kayla Merrit (Attleboro, Mass.), and Dubel teamed up to knock on Wentworth's doorstep. Paradis stopped the bleeding on an unassisted goal,, before Rogers found the back of the net with 3:33 to play to recreate the four-goal gap, 17-13. Paradis scored her final goal of the game – tying her single-game goals record – as the Leopards held on for the win despite two final goals from Curry.

Four Leopards finished with multi-goal performances, as Rogers followed Paradis' lead with three goals and seven draw controls. Tetreau and Cummins scored twice in the effort, while senior Haley Sabino (Topsfield, Mass.), and sophomores Julie Dam (Milford, Mass.), and Shannon Sturtz (Littleton, Mass.) all finished with one goal apiece.

Stevens led the Colonels with four goals and one assists, while Dubel and Merritt each finished with a hat trick of their own. Lima rounded out double-digit scoring with two goals.

Freshman Lily Kuhns (Gloucester, Mass.) was a force in net for the Leopards, tying her season-high save total with 19. Freshman Amy Collard (Lakeville, Mass.) suffered the loss in net with nine saves.

Wentworth is back in action on Tuesday for its final regular season conference game at home vs. UNE.
