BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Vanessa Caruccio (Winthrop, Mass.) scored three goals and added an assist while freshman Madison McKinley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and junior Lexi Dussi (Boxford, Mass.) added two goals apiece as the Endicott women's soccer team cruised to an 8-0 win over Wentworth in the regular-season finale for both teams Wednesday night on Sweeney Field.
The Gulls wasted little time getting the only goal they would need when senior Micaela Hogan (Salisbury, Mass.) scored from freshman Becca Gustine (East Hampton, Conn.) at 3:56. Caruccio scored the next two at 7:54 and 9:47, set up by Dussi and senior Christine Silva (Stoneham, Mass.), respectively.
Hogan sent a pass across the box to Dussi who made it a 4-0 game at 10:16 before Caruccio recorded the hat trick with an unassisted goal off a long run at 16:10. McKinley rounded out the first half scoring off a feed from junior Madison Missinne (Ridgefield, Conn.) at 36:57. Through the first 45:00, Endicott held a 15-2 shot advantage.
Caruccio sent a pass to Dussi, who found the back of the net at 57:38 to make it a 7-0 score before McKinley scored off a pass from freshman Amanda Leonardo (Enfield, Conn.) to round out the scoring at 73:14.
Sophomore Katie Donnelly (Madison, Conn.) played the first half and did not record a save, while freshman Julianna McDermott (Clifton Park, N.Y.) made three saves over the final 45:00. With the win Endicott improves to 11-5-2 overall and completes CCC play with a 7-1-1 mark. Wentworth falls to 6-11-1 (4-5-0). These two teams will meet in the quarterfinal round of the 2012 CCC Women's Soccer Tournament as the third-seeded Gulls will host the sixth-seeded Leopards on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Wentworth is making its first post-season appearance since 2009 and has faced Endicott three previous times (2002, 2003, 2007) in the tournament with the Gulls going 3-0.
