QUINCY, Mass. – Sophomore Jess Poratti (Essex Junction, Vt.) recorded a pair of goals and senior Emily Richard (Fremont, N.H.) became the program's all-time assist leader as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team halted a three-game losing streak with a 7-1 win over Eastern Nazarene in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Leopards improve to 5-10-1 overall and 3-4-1 in league play while the Lions drop to 6-11-0 (1-7-0).

Sophomore Sidney Brogan (Los Angeles, Calf.) wasted little time giving Wentworth the lead as she took advantage of a loose ball and gave the Leopards a 1-0 lead at the 6:22 mark. Wentworth scored its second goal in a less than three-minute span when a foul occurred in the box and Poratti netted her first of the game on the ensuing kick.

Richard's record-setting assist came at the 21:23 mark when she assisted on Poratti's second marker of the game. Richard sent a through ball to Poratti, one one-timed a shot into the back of the net. The assist gives Richard 26 for her career, breaking the mark of 25 previously held by Caillin Wall '07.

The Leopards tacked on two more goals in the first half to take a 5-0 lead. Freshman Julia Watler (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) scored her first career goal at 37:23 when classmate Molly Donahue (Quincy, Mass.) fed her a pass and she went in on a breakaway. With 2:15 left in the half, freshman Sam Kinard notched the first goal of her career after she scored from inside the box off a lofted volley from classmate Alexandria Rodriguez (San Diego, Calif.).

Senior Samantha Medeiros (Barrington, R.I.) cracked the scoring column for the first time in her career at 57:02 after Brogan fed her a pass inside the box before Donahue went in on a breakaway to score her first collegiate goal with 2:14 remaining.

Eastern Nazarene ended the shutout bid with 1:11 remaining after freshman Kyndall Fry (Tampa, Fla.) scored an unassisted tally from the top of the box.

Junior Christie Fleming (Braintree, Mass.) picked up the win, making eight saves. Sophomore Michaela Connors (Norwell, Mass.) made seven stops for Eastern Nazarene. Wentworth had a 22-15 shot advantage while corner kicks were even at 2-all.

Wentworth hosts Curry in its final regular-season game of the 2017 campaign on Tuesday.
