Coakley Selected to Play in NEILA East-West Senior All-Star Game

BOSTON, Mass. – The New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association today announced the rosters and game information for the 2021 East-West Senior All-Star Game, which will be held Friday, June 4th, at 7:00 pm, on the campus of Roger Williams University.

Fifty-two players from Divisions I, II, and III will compete in this year's contest, including Leopard attackman Ben Coakley, who becomes the ninth Wentworth men's lacrosse student-athlete to be selected to compete. Ben's brother Ryan ('16) also competed in this game for the Black & Gold at the conclusion of the 2015 season.

A Third Team All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selection, Coakley led the team in goals (16), assists (8), and points (24), while also scooping up 27 ground balls and causing three turnovers. He scored at least one point in eight of the nine contests in which he played this season, including recording a season-high five points (four goals, one assist) in a 15-11 win over Nichols. In 46 career games, Coakley has scored 153 points, coming on 82 goals and 71 assists while also scooping up 107 ground balls. He ranked third on Wentworth's all-time list in man-up goals (19), fifth in points and assists, and 12th in goals.

All players and coaches were nominated by the head coaches within the NEILA.  Players were then ranked and selected by a committee, awarding seniors from all three NCAA Divisions who played their college career in the New England region. This all-star game is the only one of its kind, being a regional all-star game which includes players from Divisions I, II, and III.
