Ballard Places Eighth to Help Men's Cross Country to Seventh-Place Finish

KEENE, N.H. – Sophomore Ryan Ballard (Norwalk, Conn.) finished eighth to help the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's cross country to a seventh-place finish at the 21-team Keene State Invitational.

Ballard, who led the Leopards for the third time in as many races this fall, crossed the line with a time of 25:58.9, just less than 10 seconds out a top five finish.

Senior Jack Chausse (Newport, R.I.) collected 39 points with his 40th-place finish, crossing the line with a time of 27:18.4. Freshman Jon Savage (Hampton, N.H.) finished 53rd (50 points) with a time of 27:34.4. Freshman Jack Newton (Gloucester, Mass.) picked up 53 points with a time of 27:42.2 to finish 56th. Senior William Carpenter (Salisbury, Vt.) completed Wentworth's five scoring runners, finishing 61st (56 points) with a time of 27:50.0.

Freshman Joey Cotta (Scarborough, Maine) finished 77th (28:27.5), sophomore Evan McIntire (Mansfield, Mass.) was 102nd (29:21.3), freshman Hayden Pierce (Jefferson, Mass.) placed 110th (29:33.6), freshman Mark Murphy (Medway, Mass.) finished 133rd (30:09.9), junior Nick Whitcomb (Plymouth, Mass.) placed 158th (31:13.7), freshman Matt Murphy (Braintree, Mass.) finished 194th (32:56.8), and junior Robbie McCue (Weymouth, Mass.) was 214th (35:29.6).

Wentworth competes next at the Suffolk Invitational on October 14.
