WENHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Ryan Ballard (Norwalk, Conn.) used an 11th-place finish to help the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference Championships.

The 8K race featured 125 runners from nine CCC institutions. The Leopards posted a fifth-place finish, scoring 120 points. Roger Williams won the championship and the Hawks' Nathan Tassey was the top individual finisher with a time of 25:44.2.

Ballard's 11th-place finish earned him – for the second consecutive season – All-CCC honors, which are earned by the top 15 runners. He crossed the line with a time of 27:00.5.

Freshman Jon Savage (Hampton, N.H.) placed 19th (24:40.5), while senior William Carpenter (Salisbury, Vt.) picked up 25 points with his 26th-place finish (28:05.6). Senior Jack Chausse (Newport, R.I.) was the next Leopards to finish, placing 47th (36 points) with a time of 29:01.4. Rounding out Wentworth's scoring runners was freshman Jack Newton (Gloucester, Mass.), who covered the course in a time of 29:11.4 to finish 51st (38 points).

Freshman Joey Cotta (Scarborough, Maine) finished 53rd (29:21.0), sophomore Jacob Thomas (Kingston, N.H.) was 57th (29:35.6), sophomore Evan McIntire (Mansfield, Mass.) placed 62nd (29:48.7), freshman Hayden Pierce (Jefferson, Mass.) finished 85th (31:38.6), freshman Mark Murphy (Medway, Mass.) ran a time of 32:18.5 to finish 92nd, junior Nick Whitcomb (Plymouth,. Mass.) was 105th (34:07.5), junior Robbie McCue (Weymouth, Mass.) placed 114th (35:27.3), while freshman Matt Murphy (Braintree, Mass.) had a time of 35:31.0 to place 115th.

Wentworth ends its season on Saturday, November 11, at the NCAA Division III East Regional Championships.
