BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's cross country team has earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team honors for the 2023 season, as recently announced by the organization.
In addition to the team earning all-academic honors, sophomore Ryan Ballard (Norwalk, Conn.) was named an all-academic athlete by the organization.
Wentworth earns the honor for having had its student-athletes who used a season of eligibility this season earn at least a 3.10 grade point average during the fall 2023 semester. The Leopards had a 3.56 grade point average as a team. This marks the seventh time in program history Wentworth has earned this award, having also earned this honor in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2022.
Ballard becomes the sixth Leopard to earn this honor, joining Alex Robbins '18 (three times) and Patrick Hopkins '18 (twice). In order to earn all-academic athlete honors, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
