BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman forward Mike Domsodi's (Kirkland, Que.) second goal of the game, coming with 5:37 left in regulation, evened the game at 2-all and neither Wentworth nor Johnson & Wales could put home the game winner as the two teams each picked up a point in the ECAC Northeast standings.
The Wildcats took an early lead when senior Jeremiah Ketts (Foristell, Mo.) scored at 2:36, a power play goal which was set up by classmate Domenic Recchia (Sterling Heights, Mich.) and junior defenseman Trevor Jewell. Johnson & Wales took a 2-0 lead with 42 ticks left in the period on a goal by junior forward Jason Pietrasiak (Shrewsbury, Mass.), which was set up by sophomore forward Ian DePasquale (Buffalo, N.Y.) and classmate Ryan Kelly (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).
Johnson & Wales held an 8-6 shot advantage during the first 20:00, with all of the Leopards' shots coming in the period's final 3:20.
At 5:02 of the second period, sophomore forward Andrew Yarber (Livonia, Mich.) fed senior forward Casey Shade (Anchorage, Alaska), who found Domsodi in front of the net to cut the lead to 2-1. Wentworth would hold a 13-5 shot advantage during the second period, with junior Matt Cooper (Perrysburg, Ohio) making 12 saves.
Sophomore defenseman Lawton McCracken (Colborne, Ont.) carried the puck into the zone and fed Shade, who, for the second time in the contest, set up Domsodi, who this time tying the game at 14:37. Both teams had chances to net the game winner late in the third period, including both teams having a power play opportunity.
The Leopards began the overtime period on the power play, but could not take advantage, and would be given another extra-man opportunity with 3:44 left in the game. With 2:20 left, Wentworth appeared to have scored the game-winning goal off a rebound, but it was ruled the puck was kicked in.
Freshman Alex Peck (Kirkland, Que.) made 17 saves, while Cooper stopped 33 shots. Wentworth held a 35-19 shot advantage.
Wentworth stands at 2-2-1 overall and 0-1-1 in ECAC Northeast play. The Leopards are at Stonehill on Tuesday night. Johnson & Wales, unbeaten in its last three (2-0-1), stands at 4-1-1 (1-0-1). The Wildcats are idle until they travel to Becker on November 30.
