Hockey Wins Fourth in a Row

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Sophomore Andrew Yarber (Livonia, Mich.) and freshman Mike Domsodi (Kirkland, Que.) each recorded two goals and an assist as the Wentworth hockey team scored four unanswered goals, including three in the third period, as the Wentworth hockey team won its fourth straight game with a 6-3 win at Johnson & Wales.

Yarber put Wentworth on the board first when he put in a pass from freshman Kevin Crowe (Galloway, N.J.) and senior Mike Paglino (Grosse Point Shores, Mich.) at the 6:44 mark of the first period.  The Wildcats responded quickly, however when freshman Alex Porrier (Rutland, Vt.) fed a pass to junior Erick Vos (Kalamazoo, Mich.) to knot the game at 1-1.  The visiting Leopards regained the lead at the 15:08 mark of the first when freshman Domsodi capitalized on a power play goal for the 2-1 lead. Johnson & Wales responded and knotted the game at 2-2 with just 1:15 remaining on the clock for the period as Porrier put in a pass from Vos and sophomore Guillaume Cyr (Quebec City, Que.).  The two teams headed into the locker room in a deadlock.

Johnson & Wales took the 3-2 lead midway through the second stanza as junior Ryan Kelley connected on a pass from sophomore Ian DePasquale (Buffalo, N.Y.) at the 9:35 mark.  With just 0:10 left in the second period, freshman Curtis Heinz (Grand Rapids, Mich.) evened the score at 3-3 with assists to Domsodi and senior Skylur Jameson (Long Beach, Calif.). Jameson's assist was the 150th point of his career.

Wentworth regained the lead just 5:47 into the third as a goal by Crowe put the Leopards up 4-3.  That would prove to be the game winner as the Black & Gold added a pair of goals, including the second of the game from both Domsodi and Yarber, en route to the 6-3 victory.

Junior Matt Cooper (Perrysburg, Ohio) made 24 saves for JWU in the setback while freshman Alex Peck (Kirkland, Que.) had 22 stops in the win for Wentworth.

With the loss Johnson & Wales is now 12-7-2 for the year and 6-3-1 ECAC Northeast while Wentworth improves to 14-6-1 on the year, 7-2-1 in league play.  The Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday, February 8 when they travel to Western New England for a ECAC Northeast contest at 7:15 p.m. Wentworth hosts Becker on Thursday, February 9.
