EVERETT, Mass. – Junior Thomas Finck (St. James, N.Y.) had two goals and an assist as the Skidmore College ice hockey team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 5-1, in non-conference action Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Finck wasted little time getting Skidmore on the board, as he scored at the 2:21 mark. Just over 10 minutes later the Thoroughbreds increased their lead to 2-0 on a goal from sophomore Freddie Ilias (Oakville, Ont.)
• Wentworth pulled within a goal at the 5:10 mark of the second period when freshman Nick Cullinan (Sandy Hook, Conn.) netted his first collegiate marker off a rebound of a classmate Travis Marchant (Londonderry, N.H.) shot. At 8:25, Skidmore went back ahead by a pair on a goal from freshman Ryan Waltman (South Bend, Ind.). The Leopards had a 14-13 shot advantage in the second period, which included seven shots on three power-play attempts.
• Finck put the visitors ahead at the 4:36 mark when he scored an unassisted goal and, with freshman Jack McGovern (Ancaster, Ont.) pulled for an extra attacker, he caused a turnover and fed senior Matt Rutigliano (Shrewsbury, Mass.) for a shorthanded tally.
• McGovern made 28 saves as Wentworth had a 36-33 shot advantage.

SERIES NOTES:

• Tonight was the 17th all-time meeting between the two teams. Skidmore leads, 12-5.
