CANTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology ice hockey team couldn't find the back of the net against Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Curry, resulting in a 6-0 defeat Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Curry broke the scoreless tie in the second period when sophomore Eelis Laaksonen (Espoo, Finland) found himself on a partial breakaway and managed to beat junior Will Oliver (Chesterfield, Mo.) on the backhand with a deke, putting the hosts ahead by one.
- Sophomore Kevin Pitts (Ponte-Claire, Quebec) added to Curry's lead just 55 seconds after Laaksonen's tally on a backhand shot, giving the Colonels a 2-0 advantage.
- Curry added to their lead just under five minutes into the final frame when graduate student Billy Roche (Braintree, Mass.) danced through the zone towards the goal and beat Oliver, marking a 3-0 score.
- The Colonels made the game a 4-0 affair on the powerplay just midway through the third period as graduate student Tarek Paranica (Grand Forks, N.D.) fed Pitts on a back-door pass, and Pitts beat Oliver for his second goal of the night.
- Freshman Gage Dill (Estero, Fla.) tallied an empty-net goal with 2:33 left in the third period, making the score 5-0.
- 16 seconds later, senior Austan Bellefeuille (Framingham, Mass.) added to Curry's lead on the powerplay off of another back-door pass.
- Oliver made 37 saves in net for the Leopards, while graduate student Reid Cooper (Corman Park, Saskatchewan) posted a 23-save shutout for the Colonels.
SERIES NOTES:
- Tonight marked the 53rd meeting between the two teams. Curry leads the all-time series, 30-18-5.
