Men's Tennis Rallies to Defeat Endicott

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Trailing 2-1 after doubles play, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team (3-1) won four of five singles matches, including senior Tyler Hall's thrilling three-set victory at No. 2 as the Leopards notched their second straight win with a 5-4 win over Endicott (2-3).

Wentworth picked up a point at No. 3 doubles as senior Harrison Maki (Rutland, Mass.) and junior Sam Ferro (Whitman, Mass.) won, 8-2. Freshman Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) and Kevin Salomon (West Newton, Mass.) were defeated at No. 1, 2-8, while Hall and senior Tristan Maus (Mansfield, Mass.) fell, 4-8, at No. 2.

Maki was defeated, 2-6, 1-6, at No. 5 while Gallegos lost at No. 1, 2-6, 2-6, giving the Gulls a 4-1 lead before the comeback started. Salomon won, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 3 to make it 4-2 before Maus won, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4 pulling the Black & Gold within one. Ferro tied the match at 4-all with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6, setting up No. 2 as the deciding point.

Hall dropped the first set, 3-6, before edging his opponent, 7-5, to force a decisive third set. Tied at 6-all in the third set, Hall emerged victorious in the tiebreaker, 7-4.

The two schools will square off again on Saturday in Beverly in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match.
