Endicott Sneaks Past Men's Tennis

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team suffered its first conference setback of the season, falling to Endicott, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon.

Doubles play saw the Gulls take a 2-0 lead after winning at No. 2 and No. 1. At No. 2, seniors Tyler Hall (Framingham, Mass.) and Jarrett North (Roanoke, Texas) lost, 5-8, while freshman Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) and junior Kevin Salomon (West Newton, Mass.) lost at No. 1, 5-8. Wentworth picked up a point at No. 3 when seniors Harrison Maki (Rutland, Mass.) and Tristan Maus (Mansfield, Mass.) won, 8-6.

The Gulls took a 3-1 lead when Salomon dropped a 4-6, 2-6, decision at No. 3 and led 4-1 when Gallegos lost, 3-6, 6-7 (4-7) at No. 1. Maus earned a 7-6 (7-0), 6-2 win at No. 4 to cut the lead to 4-2, however, the Gulls clinched the match at No. 2 when Hall was defeated, 6-2, 4-6, 1-6. North won at No. 5, 6-4, 6-1, and senior Sam Ferro (Whitman, Mass.) was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at No. 6.

Wentworth (3-2, 2-1 CCC) is at Curry on Wednesday.
