INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Leopards found themselves in a six point hole early on, as four different Lynx players got on the scoreboard and gave them an 8-2 lead. Junior guard Kayla Kelley (Boston, Mass.) then picked up the offense for Wentworth. Kelley first hit back-to-back threes to tie the game, then put in a layup to tie the game at 10 after Lesley had retaken the lead. The Leopards kept up the good shooting from beyond the arc, as sophomore guard Nattaly David (Hyde Park, Mass), who led all scorers with 23 points, and junior guard Abriana Busbey (Palmer, Alaska) hit a pair of threes to help Wentworth take their first lead. The Lynx cut away at the lead, but the Leopards still held an 18-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.
  • Kelley and David made a few baskets early on as Wentworth took a six point lead in the second. The Leopards then took over the rest of the quarter. After a Lesley basket to get within four, Wentworth scored 13 straight points to blow the game open, with five different players scoring during the stretch as the Leopards went on to a 37-22 advantage going into halftime.
  • The teams traded baskets early in the third, as Busbey's three pointer was answered by Lesley with a three of their own. The teams went a few minutes without scoring until David put in a layup with three minutes to go. Another basket by David just over a minute later helped Wentworth maintain their lead as the Leopards went up 48-33 heading into the fourth.
  • The final quarter was taken over by David, who scored the first seven points for the Leopards. She finished with 11 points in the quarter overall as Wentworth maintained their double-digit lead and went on to win by a score of 61-44.
