INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Nor'easters jumped out to a 5-0 lead after Abby Cavallaro (South Portland, Maine) hit an early three pointer. Freshman forward Maddy Foster (Lewiston, Maine), who led Wentworth with 10 points on the night, answered with a three of her own to get the Leopards within two. Holding a 9-5 lead, UNE scored the final 10 points of the first quarter, with four different players scoring during the run. The stretch included a pair of three pointers from both Cavallaro and Jordyn Franzen (Salem, N.H.), who had a game-high 27 points and nine rebounds as the home team took a 19-5 lead into the second.
  • The Leopards gave up a pair of early baskets in the second quarter before sophomore guard Nattaly David (Hyde Park, Mass.) scored two of her nine points to stop the scoring drought, but Wentworth still faced a 16-point deficit. With four minutes gone by, Cavallaro hit another of her game-best six three pointers, which was again answered by a three from Foster. After the teams traded a pair of layups, UNE looked to the long ball, as Cavallaro and Franzen hit back-to-back shots from beyond the arc to build the Nor'easter lead to 24. But the Leopards answered with a jumper from senior guard Kayla Kelley (Boston, Mass.) and a three from David. A pair of late field goals from UNE's Allie Goodman (Durham, Maine) pushed the lead up to 23 points going into the half with the Nor'easters up 42-19.
  • UNE guard Juliana Tracey (Quincy, Mass.) scored seven straight points for the Nor'easters, as they continued to extend their lead in the third. Junior guard Abriana Busbey (Palmer, Alaska) stopped the bleeding with a three, but Franzen then scored five straight points. Two baskets from David in the final minutes were responded to by Franzen, who hit a pair of her own to help UNE take a 61-28 lead after three.
  • The Nor'easters opened the fourth on a 15-3 run, as Cavallaro hit two more shots from long distance and Franzen scored four of her own, while scoring eight in the quarter overall. The home team scored 20 of the final 22 points in the game, breaking it open for an 86-33 victory.
