INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Leopards got off to a quick start, as a three pointer by senior guard Kayla Kelley (Boston, Mass.) and a basket by freshman forward Maddy Foster (Lewiston, Maine), who led Wentworth with eight points, put the home team ahead 5-2 three minutes into the game. However, the Rams came back with nine unanswered points, including three from Jenni-Rose DiCecco (Falmouth, Mass.), the game's leading scoring with 15 on the night. A basket by senior forward Samantha Cormier (Rochester, N.H.) broke the skid, but a late three from Suffolk gave the visitors an 18-10 lead after one.
  • Six straight points for the Rams to open up the second quarter left the Leopards in a 14 point hole, but Wentworth was able to pick up a pair of baskets from freshman forward Gabby Amoddio (Wethersfield, Conn.) and a jumper from Kelley to trim the deficit. Suffolk went on another 6-0 run late in the quarter to stretch their lead to 18 points, although two late baskets from Foster and freshman guard Brianna Carroll (Douglas, Mass.) got Wentworth to within 34-20 at the break.
  • The teams traded baskets in the opening minutes of the third, but back-to-back baskets gave the Rams an 18 point lead once again. Although Amoddio was able to put another basket in, seven straight points gave Suffolk a 50-27 advantage with just under four minutes left in the quarter. However, the Leopards were able to come back with seven straight on their end as sophomore guard Nattaly David (Hyde Park, Mass.) made one jumper and one three pointer, and Carroll added a jumper as well. A Suffolk basket in the final seconds gave the visitors a 52-34 lead entering the fourth quarter.
  • The Rams were able to build a commanding lead in the fourth, as they opened up with 13 straight points spanning the opening six minutes of the quarter. The Rams' Aisling Crowley (Braintree, Mass.) provided seven point during the stretch, and Suffolk built their lead up to 31 points. The Leopards added a few late baskets, but the Rams closed things out with a 76-41 victory to pick up their seventh conference win of the season.
