INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Wentworth struck first and just 26 seconds into the contest as freshman Olivia Murray (Quincy, Mass.) tallied her fourth goal of the season. Gordon's Lena Larson got the Fighting Scots on the board 37 seconds later.
  • Freshman Jenna Viglione (Burlington, Mass.) gave the Leopards a 2-1 one but that was traded by an Abigail Mansfield goal.
  • Again, the Leopards regained the lead, this time coming from Galan and it was again matched by Mansfield. Gordon earned the first pair of goals as Allison Mead gave them their first lead of the contest at 4-3 with 20:54 remaining in the half.
  • Murray tied score with her second of the game before Paige Blake gave the Fighting Scots the lead, which came just nine seconds after Murray tied the contest. However, Galan tied the score once more, just 22 seconds later.
  • Gordon tallied five straight goals as Mansfield, Lena Larson, and Katelyn Dyer gave the visitors a 10-5 lead. Galan found the cage for the third time in the game to break up the Gordon run. However, Dyer and Mead combined for three consecutive Gordon goals which gave them a 13-6 lead with 9:28 to go in the first half.
  • Galan and Murray tallied back-to-back goals to get the scoring back in Wentworth's favor. Gordon tallied four goals over the final 4:06 to open a 17-8 lead at the break.
  • An early second half defensive stand by Wentworth gave them a strong transition, which Galan would use the open space after a pass from Hamblett to capitalize on for her fifth goal on the evening. The Galan and Hamblett duo would connect on consecutive goals as the Leopards now trailed 17-10 with 26:54 to go in the contest. Galan's goal with 26:54 left put her at 100 career points.
  • Gordon would take a timeout following the goal and quickly regained their nine-goal advantage on a pair of Mansfield goals. Junior Bella MacMahon (North Yarmouth, Mass.) and Hamblett both found the cage to continue the two goal per team trend, which Galan would break, as Wentworth closed the gap to six with 19:45 remaining.
  • Dyer ended the three-goal spree with a man-up goal which was a man-up goal. Murray and junior Jorgie Pashalian (Cranston, R.I.) continued the Wentworth offensive attack with another pair of Leopard goals. Again, the Fighting Scots responded with a pair of their own goals from Larson and Mead.
  • The Leopards continued to claw their way back in with four straight goals in just over 1:20. The goals came from Murray, Hamblett, Pashalian, and Galan with a man-up goal. Dyer got Gordon back on the board, which made the score, 23-19, with 5:05 remaining.
  • Hamblett got the lead down to three with 3:14 remaining but a quick response goal by Mead gave the Fighting Scots enough breathing room to close out the contest, 24-20.

THE SERIES

  • This is the eighth meeting all-time between the Fighting Scots and Leopards. Gordon leads the series, 7-1.
