Galan, Murray Earn CCC Weekly Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – After the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team posted a 1-1 record on the week, two student-athletes earned Commonwealth Coast Conference weekly honors, as announced by the league Monday afternoon. Junior Sarah Galan (Colchester, Conn.) was named the league's offensive player of the week, while freshman Olivia Murray (Quincy, Mass.) was tabbed as the league's rookie of the week. The duo earned these honors for games played from April 5-11.

Galan posted a 17-point week for the Leopards, scoring 15 goals and assisting on two others. She started the week with eight goals and one assist in a 24-20 loss to Gordon and, in a 19-6 win over Nichols, she scored seven goals and added an assist for an eight-point game. She opened the game with a hat trick, scoring three times in the first 83 seconds. Galan also won 19 draw controls in the two games. Through five games, Galan leads the team in goals (28), points (34), and draw controls and became the fifth player in program history to score 100 or more points in her career during the Gordon game.

Murray had a nine-point week for the Black & Gold, scoring eight times and adding an assist. She had five goals in a 24-20 loss to Gordon and followed that up with three goals in a 19-6 win over Nichols. For the week she connected on 61.5 percent of the shots she took.
