Early Run Paces Roger Williams Past Women's Lacrosse

BOSTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University women's lacrosse team jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back, defeating Wentworth Institute of Technology, 24-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Hawks opened the contest with an 8-0 run that spanned over the first 11:53. Seven different players tallied goals as Campbell Haller was the lone goal scorer to get on the board twice.
  • Freshman Olivia Murray (Quincy, Mass.) ended the run with 17:50 remaining in the first half after she took advantage of a draw control and drove towards goal from midfield for her 12th goal of the season.
  • Roger Williams added another seven goals over the remaining 15:29 of the half with pairs of goals coming from Devon Sarazin and Erinn O'Hara. The run to close out the half saw five different Hawks find the back of the cage.
  • The Hawks held the Leopards scoreless in the second half and added nine goals of their own to close out the contest, 24-1. Delana Erickson tallied two goals as the hosts posted eight different goal scorers in the second half.
  • Freshman Jen Ray (Warwick, R.I.) made eight saves in her collegiate debut between the pipes.

THE SERIES

  • This is the ninth meeting all-time between the Hawks and Leopards. The Hawks are 9-0 all-time.

NEXT UP

  • Wentworth will host their second consecutive and final scheduled home contest on Saturday when Endicott comes to Sweeney Field.
