WENHAM, Mass. – Three different Gordon College women's soccer student-athletes scored as the Fighting Scots (5-3-1, 1-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference) defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology (1-6-1, 0-3) on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Fighting Scots countered with a pair of shots 40 seconds apart with Reif making two saves. At the 14:06 mark, Gordon took a 1-0 lead when senior Kendra Wentling (Foxborough, Mass.) scored off a pass from graduate student Alexa Weindorf (East Northport, N.Y.).
  • Three minutes and 31 seconds later the hosts extended their lead to 2-0 when sophomore Ada Forbes (New Haven, Conn.) scored an unassisted tally.
  • Wentworth had a pair of corner kicks late in the first half and had a bid by junior Maria Selman (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) that went wide in the 43rd minute.
  • The Black & Gold saw their first shot on net come in the 52nd minute when senior Madelyn Seder (Marlborough, Mass.) had her bid denied by sophomore Emily Bengston (Anthem, Ariz.) and freshman Lily Carlson (New Braintree, Mass.) had her shot go wide in the 53rd minute.
  • Gordon made it a 3-0 game at the 55:39 mark when senior Taylor Talesnick (Maitland, Fla.) scored an unassisted marker. The Leopards nearly got on the scoreboard with 1:35 left but senior Mckenzie Collins (Seymour, Conn.) had her sot saved by Bergstrom.
