Roger Williams Rallies Past Women's Soccer

BRISTOL, R.I. – After an opening tally by sophomore Jordan Dahan (Kennesaw, Ga.) gave the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team (2-10-2, 0-6-1 CCC) an initial 1-0 lead, the Roger Williams Hawks (8-6-4, 4-1-2 CCC) rallied with three straight goals to take a 3-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference win Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After two tries on goals for the Hawks opened the game, the Leopards capitalized on their first nick on goal as a penalty kick by sophomore Jordan Dahan (Kennesaw, Ga.) found the twine and put the Leopards ahead 1-0 at the 17:44 mark.
  • The two teams swapped shots to end the first half, with both shots by Roger Williams stopped by freshman Claire Reif (Winter Springs, Fla.) to keep Wentworth's 1-0 edge.
  • At the 54:51mark, Roger Williams knotted the score on a tally by senior Sofie Morris (Bristol, R.I.), marking a 1-1 score.
  • After a shot by senior Madelyn Seder (Marlborough, Mass.) followed the Hawks' first goal, the hosts extended their lead shortly thereafter at the 58:49 mark on a goal scored by freshman Morgan Ippolito (Point Pleasant, N.J.), bringing the score to 2-1.
  • Roger Williams doubled their lead to 3-1 at the 68:24 mark on a tally by graduate student Bianca Robbins (Johnston, R.I.).
  • Both teams traded tries to end the game, as the Hawks held on for a 3-1 decision. Reif made seven saves in the Leopards' setback while sophomore Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) made four stops in her first win of the season.
