Women's Soccer Falls to UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Three different student-athletes tallied for the University of New England women's soccer team (6-3-3, 3-1 CCC) as the Nor'Easters' fast start in the second half earned them a 3-1 victory over the Wentworth Institute of Technology (2-8-1, 0-5 CCC) in conference action Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • A scoreless first half featured 14 shots, with 11 taken by the Nor'Easters. Freshman Shyla Kulesza (Grafton, Mass.) made six stops between the pipes for the Leopards.
  • Shortly after a free kick was awarded to the hosts, the Nor'Easters grabbed a 1-0 edge on an own goal at the 51:36 mark.
  • UNE doubled their lead at the 60:50 mark on a penalty kick from senior Emily Martin (Georgetown, Maine), marking a 2-0 score.
  • Just 1:15 after a corner kick for the Black & Gold, sophomore Jordan Dahan (Kennesaw, Ga.) capitalized on a penalty kick of her own, slicing the deficit in half at the 66:38 mark.
  • At the 78:34 mark, UNE regained their two-goal lead on a shot taken by junior Tori Keyes (Hooksett, N.H.) to the right side of the goal, bringing the score to 3-1 in favor of the Nor'Easters.

SERIES NOTES:

  • Entering today, the last five meetings between the two teams had been decided by one goal.
