BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Imani Jenkins (Middletown, Conn.) scored two goals ad assisted on two others as the 25th-ranked University of Hartford women's soccer team (11-2) defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology (2-9-2), 7-0, Wednesday night on Sweeney Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Jenkins set up classmate Christina Stone (Glastonbury, Conn.) just 1:35 into the game before she scored an unassisted tally at the 4:52 mark, giving Hartford a 2-0 lead.
- At 13:58, Jenkins scored her second of the game, coming from senior May Cervone (Milford, Conn.), while freshman Kathleen Brush (Wethersfield, Conn.) made it 4-0 with a goal at 21:41. Brush set up sophomore Lindsay Metcalfe (Palos Verdes, Calif.) at 24:44, giving the visitors a 5-0 advantage.
- A goal from graduate student Ishani Sharma (Brampton, Ont.) pushed the lead to 6-0, 2:28 into the second half.
- Sophomore Lina Arlander (Skjetten, Norway) nearly got the hosts on the board in the 72nd minute, but her shot was saved. Freshman Iris Stutzman (Scarborough, Maine) also had a shot saved in the 78th minute.
- Cervone rounded out the scoring with a marker in the 85th minute.
- Senior Adriana Arona (Westfield, Mass.) made five saves in the first 54:42. Junio Lily Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J.) turned aside six shots in the final 35:18.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
