BOSTON, Mass. – A day after being named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week, Wentworth Institute of Technology junior baseball player Alex Wong (Lewiston, Maine) picked up two more accolades as he was named the ECAC Division III New England Baseball Player of the Week and was named to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week.

Wong continued his hot start by batting .542 (13-for-24) with three doubles, four triples, four stolen bases, eight runs scored, and nine RBI. In seven games he had four multiple-hit games, including going 2-for-4 and driving in the game-winning run in a 6-5, come-from-behind win over Colby-Sawyer. Wong spun a three-hit shutout – striking out two batters – in an 8-0 win over RIT and helped his own cause at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and two RBI.

On the season Wong has started all 12 of the 7-5 Leopards' games and is batting .525 (21-for-40) with three doubles, five triples, one home run, nine stolen bases, 17 runs scored, and 11 RBI. He has an on-base percentage of .623 and a slugging percentage of .925. In three pitching appearances (two starts) he is 1-0 with a 1.32 earned run average. He has struck out eight batters and walked just three in 13.2 innings of work and is holding batters to a .200 average.

Wentworth returns to the diamond this afternoon as it heads across the Charles River to play MIT at 3:30 p.m.
