Hulme Named CCC Baseball Rookie of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ? Freshman Joe Hulme (Tewksbury, Mass.) of the Wentworth baseball team helped the Leopards to a 5-0 week last week and for his efforts he was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for games played from March 19-25.

Hulme started all five of Wentworth?s games (three at third base, two at designated hitter) and batted .462 with a double, two triples, two stolen bases, five runs scored, and six runs batted in. In a 6-1 win over Eastern Nazarene he helped break the game open with a two-run triple and followed that up by going 4-for-6 with a double, a triple, two runs scored, and four RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Roger Williams. For the week he had an on-base percentage of .500 and a slugging percentage of .846.

Starting 12 of the 15 games in which he has played, Hulme is batting .333 (11-for-33) with two doubles, two triples, eight runs scored, and six runs batted in. He also has a .410 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of .515.

Wentworth stands at 12-8 overall and 5-0 in CCC play. The Leopards host Salve Regina on Saturday.
