Gorodetsky, Busch Earn All-CCC Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – Two members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology ice hockey team have been honored by the Commonwealth Coast Conference as all-conference selections, including one getting the nod for a second straight season. The announcement was made after the CCC released its 2019-2020 all-conference honorees and major award winners on Tuesday afternoon.

Highlighting the list of major award winners was the University of New England's Ryan Bloom (Northville, Mich.) who was recognized for his excellence on the ice and off it by being named both the Player of the Year and the CCC Scholar-Athlete. A pair of Endicott Gulls took home the other major awards with sophomore goaltender Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) being named Goaltender of the Year and Zach Mazur garnering Rookie of the Year honors. Their coach R.J. Tolan was voted the CCC Coach of the Year for the second time in his career and Curry took home the Team Sportsmanship award.

Voting for the All-CCC Teams and major awards was conducted by the nine CCC men's ice hockey head coaches following the conclusion of the regular season.

For the Leopards, senior forward Georgy Gorodetsky (Yekaterinburg, Russia) and senior defenseman Connor Busch (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) were both named Second Team All-CCC. This marks the first time since the 2015-2016 season the Leopards have had multiple players earn all-conference honors.

Gorodetsky, who was also a second team all-conference selection a season ago, presently leads the team in scoring, tallying 34 points on 15 goals and 19 assists, with five of his goals coming on the power play. A three-time CCC Player of the Week, Gorodetsky set a career high with four points when he had four assists against Fitchburg State on January 9, and matched that output with two goals and two assists against Becker on February 8. In three seasons since transferring from Arizona State, he has played in 73 games as a Leopard, scoring 40 goals and assisting on 41 others for 81 points.

In addition to being one of the team's top defensemen, Busch has been solid on offense as well. In 25 games, he has scored five goals and assisted on 15 others for 20 points, with two of his goals coming on the power play. He had a career-high five points against UMass Dartmouth on November 30 and netted a hat trick against Western New England on January 18. Busch has played three seasons for the Black & Gold after transferring from Marian University and, in 75 games, has scored 12 goals and assisted on 28 others for 40 points.

Wentworth concluded the regular season with a 7-15-3 overall record and a 3-12-3 mark in CCC play. The Leopards are seeded sixth in the upcoming conference tournament and travel to third-seeded Curry on Wednesday night for a first-round matchup.
