Women's Soccer Honored With NSCAA Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 2013 Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team has been recognized for its success off the field as the National Soccer Coaches of America announced its NSCAA Team Academic Awards for the 2013-14 academic year.

A total of 861 collegiate soccer teams (279 men, 582 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for the award. The Leopards had a cumulative grade point average of 3.29 during the last academic year.

The 2013 Leopards finished with a 7-9-4 record and advanced to the semifinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament where the Black & Gold fell to Endicott, 1-0, in overtime. Twenty members of that team returned to this year's squad, which finished 9-9-4 and advanced to the CCC finals for the first time since the 2003 season. In the finals, Wentworth tied top-seeded Roger Williams, 1-1, before losing in penalty kicks, 4-1. The Hawks advanced to the third round of NCAA Division III Tournament.

This is the third time in program history the team has been honored, joining the 2003 and 2011 squads.
