Miller Named CCC Defensive Player of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. – After helping the Wentworth Institute of technology women's soccer teams win a pair of games and run its win streak to three, senior midfielder Morgan Miller (Schenectady, N.Y.) has been honored by the Commonwealth Coast Conference as the league's defensive player of the week for games played from Sept. 26-Oct. 2.

On the defensive side, Miller helped the Leopards hold their opponents to just one goal in a pair of games as Wentworth rallied to defeat Western Connecticut, 2-1, and posted its sixth shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over Western New England.

Offensively, Miller had a goal and an assist on the week. She assisted on the game-tying goal late in the first half against Western Connecticut and rounded out the Leopards' scoring with a goal in the 78th minute against Western New England.

Miller has been a key reason why Wentworth has yielded just five goals in 11 games to-date, and, offensively she has career highs in goals (three) and points (nine) and her three assists match her career high set a season ago.

At 7-2-2 overall (3-0-1 CCC), Wentworth hosts UMass Boston on Wednesday night.
