Women's Soccer Earns Pair of Regional Rankings

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team posted a 2-0 record last week and captured the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship for the first time in program history. With the pair of victories, the Leopards earned regional rankings from both the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America and the NCAA.

Wentworth finished the regular season ranked ninth in New England by the NSCAA, marking the second time this season the Black & Gold have been ranked by a panel of women's soccer coaches in New England. On Sept. 13, the Leopards were also ranked ninth.

After being ranked 11th in the first three regional rankings, Wentworth rose a spot to finish the season ranked 10th. The NCAA regional rankings are compiled by each region's regional advisory committee and takes into account winning percentage and a weighted formula containing opponent winning percentage and opponent's opponent winning percentage to calculate an in-division strength of schedule number. The first three sets of regional rankings are published while the final set – used in selecting at-large teams for the tournament as well as for establishing the 64-team bracket – is announced after the selections have been made.

Wentworth will face Arcadia in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Williams College.
