Zweifler, Sanders Reel in CCC Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. –The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team not only swept their weekend competition but also nearly swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference weekly awards, having two student-athletes earn recognition from the conference in the opening week of the season. Sophomore Amanda Zweifler (Jersey City, N.J.) was named Libero of the Week while freshman Emma Sanders (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) brought home Rookie of the Week honors. The awards are for games played August 28-September 3.

Sophomore Amanda Zweifler (Jersey City, N.J.) helped the Leopards go 3-0 this weekend with a total of 36 digs and five service aces. Through 16 sets she had an average of 1.33 assists. The Leopards secured wins over Simmons (3-2), WPI (3-1) and Elms (3-0).

Emma Sanders (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) led off her collegiate career with an impactful weekend for the Leopards. The Leopards secured wins over Simmons (3-2), WPI (3-1) and Elms (3-0), with Sanders earning a 0.167 hitting percentage, 3 kills/set (9 sets), 7 block assists total, 9 total service aces and 26 digs total. 

The Leopards are 3-0 this season, visiting Lasell tonight seeking their fourth-straight win.
