Waggoner Earns Academic All-District Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – Wentworth Institute of Technology graduate student Riley Waggoner (Simi Valley, Calif.) has been recognized by the College Sports Communicators as a member of the 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Team.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Team, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

In order to be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must meet the following criteria:

  • Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, eligibility wise.
  • Student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
  • Student-athletes must have played in at least 90 percent of their team's games or have started in at least 66 percent of their team's games.

Waggoner, a three-time All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selection and the 2023 CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was also a member of the Academic All-District Team a season ago. Her athletic and academic success also earned her selection as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 9, 2024.
