BOSTON, Mass. – Twelve kills by junior Kamdyn Tenorio (Irvine, Calif.) paced the Regis Pride women's volleyball team (7-4) in a sweep over the Wentworth Institute of Technology (7-4) in Tansey Gymnasium Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After Regis set out to a 3-0 lead in the first set, Wentworth cut the deficit to two on a kill by junior Helen Barthe (Blythewood, S.C.). The Pride continued their lead to 8-3 until back-to-back kills from Barthe and sophomore Riley Schoonmaker (Montgomery, N.Y.) cut the deficit to three at 8-5. The Pride went on a bit of a run, taking a 15-8 lead, before later extending it to 17-9 before a kill by freshman Kate McLane (Columbus, Ohio) marked a 17-10 score. Behind 21-13, another kill from McLane again cut the deficit to seven at 21-14. Being down 24-15, Wentworth got kills from Barthe and junior Abby Maher (North Granby, Conn.) but ultimately dropped the set, 25-17.
  •  Regis again set out to a 3-0 lead to start the second set before a kill by freshman Emma Sanders (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) slowed their roll at 3-1. Down 5-2, a Sanders kill combined with errors tied the score at five-all. Regis regained their lead at 9-5 and held it with Wentworth coming within one at 12-11 thanks to two service aces from freshman Kinsey Lutz (North Prairie, Wisc.). The Pride pushed their advantage to 19-15 before a kill from McLane helped bring the Leopards within two at 19-17. The Pride scored six of the next eight points, holding their lead for a 25-19 set win and a 2-0 match lead.
  • After taking a 1-0 lead to start the third set, Regis surrendered the next three points, with the help of a kill from junior Ema Thompson (Lewiston, Idaho). A kill by Barthe continued the lead to 5-3 until Regis tied things up at six apiece. Wentworth gained their two-point lead back on a kill from McLane at 10-8 before Regis later knotted the score at 14-all. The two teams traded points to end the set until the Pride set themselves away, holding the Leopards off for a 25-22 set win and a 3-0 match victory.
