Sanders Earns Two CCC Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. –It was a historic weekend for one of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team's own as freshman Emma Sanders (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) completed her record-breaking slate by earning recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The rookie was named both Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for games played September 11-17.

Sanders' performance at the two-day Misericordia Cougar Classic was nothing short of extraordinary as the rookie came back to Boston as the tournament's most valuable player. In a 3-1 win over the host Cougars on September 16, Sanders struck for a program-best 23 kills, sporting a hitting percentage of .438. In the Leopards' other match of the day against New Paltz, Sanders notched a double-double with 19 kills and 11 digs as Wentworth capped off a 2-2 weekend.

In the four-match weekend, Sanders finished with 4.25 kills per set, totaling 68 kills across 16 sets, to go along with a 1.75 digs per set rate and a combined hitting percentage of .313.

Wentworth now sits at 7-3 this season and hosts Regis Thursday evening.
