Men's Lacrosse Dominates Keene State at Home

BOSTON, Mass. – A total team effort, led by ten different goal-scorers, led the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team (1-1) to a dominant 18-4 non-conference win over Keene State (0-3) on Sweeney Field Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth scurried off to a 2-0 lead, with both goals coming with 1:15 of one another, off the sticks of senior Drew Bouley (Gloucester, Mass.)(9:56) and senior Logan Maklan (Boca Raton, Fla.)(8:41). The Leopards pushed their advantage to 4-0 by the end of the first frame, with tallies by sophomore Tyler Longo (Kingston, N.Y.) and senior Dryden Fisher (Haverhill, Mass.) with just under four minutes of each other.
  • Longo extended the Leopards lead to 5-0 just 42 seconds into the second quarter before freshman Brendan Kroll (Wakefield, R.I.) notched his first of the day at the 11:05 mark, raising the score to 6-0. The Owls got on the board with 7:26 left to play, marking a 6-1 score at the halfway point.
  • Keene State cut the advantage to 6-2 on the man advantage early in the third quarter before Wentworth rattled off four straight goals, including two by junior Jared Hiller (North Andover) and others by Fisher and senior Connor Charron (Tewksbury, Mass.), marking a 10-2 score with 9:50 left in the third. The Owls score once more, marking a 10-3 deficit, before goals by Fisher, Kroll, and Longo raised the score to 13-3 with 3:35 left in the frame.
  • The Leopards notched five straight goals in the fourth quarter, giving themselves an 18-3 lead with 3:08 left, before a goal by junior Giacomo Tedone (Southington, Conn.) marked an 18-4 score with just over a minute left.
  • Junior Tom Gardner (West Windsor, N.J.) was brilliant in goal for the Leopards, posting 20 saves on 24 shots in the win. Senior Charlie Giuliotti (Reading, Mass.) made six saves for the Owls in his start. Charron led the charge at the X, going 13-for-23 on draws with eight ground balls.

SERIES NOTES:

  • Today's meeting marked the first between the two teams since 2003.
