PLYMOUTH, Mass. – Another fast start, marked by a 6-1 lead at the halfway point, guided the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team (6-2) to their third straight win, this time on the road versus the Plymouth State Panthers (5-2), by a 12-8 score.

The win pushes the Black & Gold's record to 6-2, their best start to a season since the 2015 campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Leopards outpaced the Panthers 4-0 across 10:15 of the first quarter as two goals by freshman Brendan Kroll (Wakefield, R.I.) and others by sophomore Tyler Longo (Kingston, N.Y.) and sophomore Boden Landers (Hebron, Conn.) helped gain the advantage.
• Another tally by Kroll 1:10 into the second quarter pushed the lead to 5-0 before Plymouth slowed the run with 3:50 left in the frame. However, a goal by junior Kobi Buffa (Craryville, N.Y.) while a man-down stretched Wentworth's lead to 6-1 by the halfway mark.
• Three straight goals for the Leopards extended their lead to 9-1 by the 10:32 mark of the third frame. A goal by senior Crosby Fay (Waterville Valley, N.H.) kickstarted two goals for the Panthers, marking a 9-3 score by the 3:46 mark, before the two teams swapped scores by quarter's end to mark a 10-4 game.
• Plymouth State rattled off four straight goals in the fourth quarter, led by two goals from Fay, to cut their deficit to 10-8 by the 2:16 mark. However, goals by seniors Connor Charron (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Logan Maklan (Boca Raton, Fla.) pushed Wentworth's cushion and final winning score to 12-8, marking their third straight triumph.
• Charron led the Leopards at the X, going 14-for-23 with six ground balls. Junior Tom Gardner (West Windsor, N.J.) made 14 saves in his sixth win of the season.

SERIES NOTES:

• Today marked the fifth all-time meeting between the two teams.
