Men's Tennis Opens Season at Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team kicked off the 2023-2024 season with a pair of matches played on the campus of Colby-Sawyer College. The Leopards were defeated by Emerson, 9-0, before falling to the host Chargers, 9-0.

EMERSON 9, WENTWORTH 0
Sophomores Eric Doraci (Natick, Mass.) and Thomas Kot (Farmington, Conn.) had a strong performance at No. 2 doubles, losing 8-3. Kot also had a tightly contested match at No. 4 singles, falling 6-3, 7-6 (8-6).

COLBY-SAWYER 9, WENTWORTH 0
Junior Justin Whalen (Weymouth, Mass.) and freshman Grace Ferguson (Concord, N.H.) battled at No. 3 doubles, falling 8-3. In singles play, junior Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.) dropped his first set at No. 1, 6-1, before forcing the second set to go to a tiebreaker, where he was defeated, 7-6 (7-2). Whalen also had a strong showing at No. 6 singles, ultimately falling, 7-5, 6-2.

Wentworth is at Clark on Saturday, October 14.
