Men's Tennis Sweeps Salem State for Second Straight Win

BEVERLY, Mass. – A clean sweep of doubles and singles play – including not dropping a set during singles – lifted the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team (4-5) to a 9-0 win over Salem State (0-1) Saturday afternoon at the Bass River Tennis Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Juniors Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.) and Niko Rosich (Chicago, Ill.) got things started for Wentworth with an 8-0 win at No. 3. Winning by an identical, 8-0 score, sophomore Eric Doraci (Natick, Mass.) and freshman Manas Arya (Hessen, Germany) were winners at No. 2. Senior Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) teamed with sophomore Renee Rodriguez (Doral, Fla.) to give the Leopards a 3-0 advantage with an 8-2 win at No. 1.
  • Rodriguez picked up right where he left off after doubles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, putting the Black & Gold ahead, 4-0. Arya earned the clinching point with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4.
  • Gallegos won at No. 1, 7-5, 6-0, Marwaha was a 6-1, 6-4 winner at No. 3, Doraci picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5, and Rosich won, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6.
