Stewart Garners D3hoops.com All-Region Honors

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – After being recognized as one of the Commonwealth Coast Conference's best performers this season, junior Tyler Stewart (East Taunton, Mass.) was honored by D3hoops.com, being named to District II's All-Region Second Team Tuesday afternoon. The honor comes on the heels of the forward being named CCC Co-Defensive Player of the Year as well as earning a spot on the All-CCC First Team.

Players were nominated for D3hoops.com awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools.

Stewart was a threat on both sides of the court, ranking first in the CCC with a .645 shooting percentage and 1.9 blocks per game and was third in scoring with 19.6 points per game. He also averaged 9.9 rebounds per game, the second-highest conference wide. The junior became the 18th Wentworth men's basketball student-athlete to score 1,000 points in his career, surpassing the milestone in the Leopards' win over WNE in their regular-season finale. Meanwhile, the forward drained a career-high 36 points versus Suffolk on February 3 and totaled a career-high 22 rebounds, one shy of tying the single-game program record, in the Leopards' opening round matchup of the playoffs with Roger Williams.

Stewart currently ranks first all-time in the program's history in the following: field goal percentage (.639), average offensive rebounds (3.3), and average blocked shots (1.3). In addition, the forward ranks second in average rebounds with 7.9. This season, he set the program record for most offensive rebounds in a season with 101 and average offensive rebounds in a season with 4.0 per game.

Players chosen to the D3hoops.com All-Region team are eligible for All-America selection which will be revealed prior to the Division III men's basketball championship game on March 16. This is the 23rd year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team and this year's All-America team will be the 27th annual All-America selections.

The Leopards finished the season 14-12, including going 9-7 in league play to finish fourth. The Black & Gold hosted a postseason contest for the second season in a row.
