BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore midfielder Ellie Arsenault (Saco, Maine) scored with 14:24 remaining to snap a scoreless tie and lift the University of New England women's soccer team to a 1-0 win in Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Sweeney Field.

The opening minutes would prove to be a field position battle, with the majority of the action happening in the midfield area. The Nor'Easters had their first shot attempt in the eighth minute and 1:09 later had a golden chance to take a 1-0 lead, however Leopard junior keeper Jess Gardner (Wilbraham, Mass.) made a diving stop of a header off of a corner kick service.

In the 75th minute UNE had two prime opportunities to break the ice when a shot was kicked away by a Leopard defender and the rebound saved by Gardner. However, at 75:36, the visitors got on the board when Arsenault dribbled through the box and drilled a shot to the right side.

Senior Jess Woodworth (Concord, N.H.) made three saves in recording her second shutout of the season. Gardner made 10 saves as Wentworth was outshot by a 23-7 margin.

With the win UNE improves to 5-1 (2-0 CCC) and hosts Wellesley on Wednesday afternoon. Wentworth falls to 2-4 (0-2) and hosts Emmanuel on Monday night.
