HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After a corner kick set up a shot that went wide for Fitchburg State, the Falcons got on the board at the 5:01 mark. Freshman Adrianna Westcott (Sayreville, N.J.) took a shot that hit the post. Classmate Alisha Praileau (Ashby, Mass.) picked up the rebound and found the back of the net,
  • Wentworth returned the favor nearly two minutes later as a misplayed ball by the Falcons led to an own goal and, with just under 10 minutes left in the half, took a 2-1 lead as sophomore Jenny Montville (Plainville, Mass.) scored off a feed from freshman Lina Arlander (Skjetten, Norway).
  • The Leopards put three more shots on net in the first half, however, were unable to add to their lead. With 54 seconds left in the frame, the hosts tied the game on a goal from junior Elizabeth Read (Chelmsford, Mass.), assisted by sophomore Katie Moran (Jefferson, Mass.).
  • Both teams traded shots in the 52nd minute and the Black & Gold nearly took a 3-2 lead in the 53rd minute when a shot by freshman Emily Hagen (Ellicott City, Md.) was going towards the net but was cleared out by a Fitchburg State backline defender.
  • At the 63:54 mark, Wolf put he Leopards ahead, 3-2, when she notched her first of the season on a shot from the left side.
  • Sophomore Juliana Heaton (Swansea, Mass.) kept it a 3-2 game when she came up with a save in the 80th minute, and, with 2:36 left, Hagen took a pass from Arlander and increased the lead to 4-2.
  • Heaton made seven saves as Wentworth had a 21-14 shot advantage and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

THE SERIES:

  • Today was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
