HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The conference contest started with a shot by the Hawks that went wide in the 3rd minute. A minute and change later, freshman Meghan Barilone (Bennington, Vt.) fired a shot past the Hawks' keeper from a slick cross-field pass from senior Madison Wolf (Falmouth, Maine), giving the Leopards an early 1-0 advantage.
  • The Hawks nearly tied the game in the 22nd minute but the Leopards got a key grab from sophomore goalkeeper Juliana Heaton (Swansea, Mass.). Eight minutes later, that same Hawks' player wouldn't be denied again, scoring a goal to tie the score at 1-1 in the 31st minute.
  • Heaton provided another save for the Leopards towards the end of the first half. Montville and junior Madelyn Seder (Marlborough, Mass.) both nicked shots towards the Hawks' goal in the waning moments of the first half only to be stopped.
  • The second half started with another brilliant save from Heaton and a powerful shot from junior Lauren Bradley (Lumberton, N.J.) that was stopped. Momentum began to run in the Hawks favor, resulting in a tie-breaking goal in the 57th minute.
  • Play stayed to the edges of the field for a lot of the second half, resulting in many corner kicks and wide shots.
  • In the 88th minute, Seder found some open space on the offensive side of the field, giving her the room to dish off a clutch pass to freshman Emily Hagan (Ellicott City, Md.), who had nothing but net to shoot at. She scored in style in the 88th minute to tie the game at 2-2, which is how the contest would end.

THE SERIES:

  • Today marked the 29th meeting between the two squads. Roger Williams leads the all-time series 20-6-3.
