DUDLEY, Mass. – Scoring a goal in each half, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team picked up its first Commonwealth Coast Conference victory of the season as the Leopards defeated Nichols, 2-0, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Graduate student Diana Bruggeman (Natick, Mass.) put a shot on net in the sixth minute of play that was saved and followed that up with a shot that went wide in the 14th minute. Freshman Jordan Dahan (Kennesaw, Ga.) also put a shot on net in the 21st minute but had her bid denied.
• Junior Madelyn Seder (Marlborough, Mass.), who had entered the game less than a minute earlier, gave the Leopards a 1-0 lead when she made a run along the right side after receiving a pass from Bruggeman and put her shot attempt to the top left of the net.
• Bruggeman nearly made it a 2-0 game in the 42nd minute, however had her shot attempt saved, which kept it a one-goal game at the break.
• Four minutes and 38 seconds into the second half, Bruggeman doubled Wentworth's lead when she put home a shot to the lower right corner.
• Sophomore Juliana Heaton (Somerset, Mass.) in the 73rd and 83rd minutes to keep the Bison off the board and sophomore Jenny Montville (Plainville, Mass.) and freshman Lina Arlander (Skjetten, Norway) each had a chance for the Black & Gold late in the contest.
• Heaton picked up her first clean sheet of the season, needing to make just the pair of second-half saves. Wentworth had a 16-7 shot advantage and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

THE SERIES:

• Today was the 25th meeting between the two teams. Winners of the last 10 meetings, Wentworth holds a 17-6-2 all-time series edge.
